Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.) seeds a popular Indian medicinal plant has been commonly used in ayurvedic system of medicine. The plant has been found to possess diverse number of antioxidant activities. It has been commonly used as a traditional food and medicine. This review gives view mainly on the biological activities of some of the fenugreek isolated compounds such as pharmacological actions of the fenugreek extracts, clinical studies and genetic. A study in India involving insulin-dependent diabetics on low doses of insulin, pulverized fenugreek seeds were shown to reduce blood sugar and other harmful fats. This plant has an antioxidant, antibacterial and anticancer activity and use for blood lipids and sugar decreasing in diabetic and non diabetic peoples.
